Diltex is a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes textiles for the fashion industry. With a presence in Mexico and other countries, Diltex is committed to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Among their brand portfolio are: Ilusión, Fiorentina, Vanity Fair, Curvation, Fruit of the Loom, Vassarette, David’s Bridal, and Etam. They develop and market a diverse line of products that include underwear, control garments, casual and sportswear, shoes, cosmetics, home accessories, occasion dresses, and wedding dresses.
The Challenge
When Diltex approached Kineo, the company was already using the Learn module of Totara v.12 as their main LMS. Despite experiencing some success with their content strategy, Diltex felt that they were not fully leveraging the potential that Totara could offer.
Diltex has identified several areas of opportunity to improve its management and user experience. These included:
- Performance review: It was essential for the user experience to have performance reviews and learning programs in one place. The L&D team needed to ensure that they could create individual training plans for each employee based on their performance results.
- Brand confidentiality: The company did not have sufficient security systems in place to ensure the confidentiality of their business units among employees.
- Compliance: The issuance and management of compliance documents that needed to be delivered to the local government were done manually, which required a significant amount of work hours for the internal team. Furthermore, Diltex had the objective of having the 100% of their employees to reach their compliance goals.
The Solution
The first major change that Kineo and Diltex agreed on was to upgrade their Totara platform to Totara V.14+ in order to incorporate the Totara Perform module. It was important for the company to offer its employees a clear learning path based on their individual needs, which is why having the Talent Management, Skills Management, 360 Performance Evaluation, and Individual Development Plans tools was key to fully utilising the potential of Totara.
Once Totara Perform was enabled, the next step was to restructure the user data by integrating SAP with the Totara platform through the HR Import function. This was an important step to ensure proper mapping and structuring of user, organisation, and position data, which would streamline the following processes.
Thanks to the SAP integration, Diltex was also able to solve their main pain point regarding compliance. The proper restructuring of data allowed for the streamlining of processes to issue and manage D-C-3 and DC 4 forms, which are certificates of job skills and competencies required by the Mexican Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. Diltex went from having 63 preloaded D-C3 certificate templates to having a single automated template that is fed by the correct distribution of student data and is also validated by instructors and legal representatives of the company through the same platform. In addition, the company’s L&D teams are now able to download in a single report the certificates obtained individually by the users, as well as in bulk using filters that allow for the selection of time period, business unit, job position, among others.
Results
As a result of the upgrade of Totara and the implementations added to the platform, Diltex was able to solve their main concerns: compliance and employee development.
Employee development:
- Diltex collaborators now have the opportunity to receive feedback from their managers. A clear learning path is now defined to help them consolidate their strengths and improve the skills that they have not yet mastered.
- +5,000 performance evaluations were answered during the past year.
- Each business unit of the company now has different competency profiles that are segmented into basic, intermediate and advance levels. Depending on where the user is standing, the platform automatically generates performance evaluations which reduces operative time for the internal team and ensures that the user experience is personalised for each learner.
Compliance:
- After years of struggling to meet their compliance targets, all of the 1500 users that were required to complete compliance training at Diltex now achieve 94.7% of their compliance goals in specific business areas.
- The processing time for submitting compliance documents to the local government has been reduced from 20 days to 10, representing a 50% reduction in team processing time
- The company’s ability to respond to government control agents has improved thanks to the new automations.
Confidentiality and security
- Before the SAP integration 80% of the employees were connected through their personal emails accounts to the learning platform. Now 100% of them are synchronised with their official credentials.
