From August 16th to 23rd, our Research and Development (R&D) team embarked on an exciting journey during Innovation Week, exploring the vast possibilities of AI within our TXP solution. It was a week filled with groundbreaking projects, inspired ideas, and a celebration of innovation.
Unleashing AI’s Potential
During Innovation Week, our R&D team took on the challenge of harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to revolutionize our TXP solution. They tackled diverse projects, each aiming to enhance our products, streamline processes, and push the boundaries of what’s achievable.
While these projects and proposals are not available in the Totara platform yet, they showcase the incredible innovation of our team and that possibilities that lie ahead.
Here are the incredible projects that emerged from this week:
AI for Support
Objective: To create a “ticket summary generator” tool that simplifies the handling of complex support tickets.
The team recognized the challenge of deciphering lengthy support tickets and developed a remarkable solution. By leveraging AI, they created a tool that summarizes critical information within support tickets, making the process more efficient for our support team. This innovation would empower us to serve our customers better.
The Ethics of AI
Objective: To delve into the ethical considerations surrounding AI, with a focus on its environmental impact, biases, human rights, and ethical practices.
This project delved into the ethical dimensions of AI. It shed light on the environmental consequences of computational infrastructure and highlighted the importance of addressing biases in AI training data. The team advocated for ethical practices within our company, emphasizing transparency and accountability in AI development.
AI-Assisted Course Creation with H5P
Objective: To explore integrating AI-powered Smart Input features into Totara Cloud for efficient content creation.
Efficiency in content creation was the goal of this project. By integrating H5P’s AI-powered Smart Input feature, the team aimed to enable quick and interactive content creation for our users. They worked to balance speed with content quality, paving the way for more dynamic course creation.
Save the Suggestion
Objective: To use AI to categorize help desk tickets and identify key trends, providing valuable insights.
This project tackled the challenge of sorting and analyzing help desk tickets. By implementing AI, the team created a system that automatically categorizes tickets and identifies trends. This innovation promises to provide valuable insights, streamlining our support operations.
Controlled Integration of LLM APIs
Objective: To integrate external Language Model APIs into Totara Learning Solutions, enhancing product functionality.
This project expanded our horizons by integrating external Language Model APIs. This integration would allow for multi-language translation tags, Q&A bots, and more, offering new dimensions of functionality to our products.
UX Writing Assistant
Objective: To explore AI-powered tools for enhancing UX writing and maintaining consistency in interface text.
Consistency in user interface text was the focus here. The team explored AI-driven solutions for UX writing, seeking to streamline the process and ensure adherence to style guidelines.
Building a Local Large Language Model
Objective: To develop a local large language model that prioritizes data security and privacy.
Data security and privacy are paramount. This project explored the potential of building a local large language model that respects our customers’ concerns, offering a safe and powerful tool for AI-driven applications.
AI-Assisted Writing
Objective: To create an extension that leverages AI, specifically GPT-3.5, for generating and editing content within Weka.
This project ventured into the world of AI-assisted writing. By integrating GPT-3.5, the team opened up possibilities for generating and editing text efficiently, all while considering factors such as privacy and cost.
