Over the past few months, here at Totara, we’ve been busy working on putting together the agenda for the 2018 APAC User Conference hosted in Sydney, 6th-7th June.
The goal this year is to invite some of our Totara advocates who can provide in-depth experience and insight about Totara Learn and Totara Social, so our delegates can gain invaluable knowledge about how others within the Totara community are using the platform.
If you’re still on the fence about attending, here’s what to expect from the action-packed one-day conference, followed by hands-on workshops hosted by our partner community.
Have your questions ready
Being part of the Totara community means you have the freedom to learn and to collaborate with your fellow Totara users across APAC. While you may already be accessing our newly revamped Totara Community to ask those pertinent questions about the platform, our User Conference is a great opportunity to ask questions in person about the product, brainstorm, solve problems and address issues that will further your Totara Learn or Totara Social implementation within your organisation. Everyone attending the User Conference is encouraged to participate – and collaborate with one another to truly demonstrate the power of the Totara community.
Get a look at other real-world Totara examples
We’ve invited speakers who will be showing ways their organisations are using Totara to improve their business outcomes. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear case studies from organisations such as Alfred Health, Ricoh, Medcast, Berry Street and more on Day 1 of the event, and how they’re using Totara. Undoubtedly, this will give delegates an idea of the capabilities and functions being used to address different industry needs – and might spur some inspiration for you along the way.

Meet your Totara peers
The Totara User Conference helps delegates expand their network by meeting up with their fellow Totara users. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate, innovate and form new connections that can help you gather ideas for you own Totara project. We encourage all attendees to take their notes from the day and start a thread on the Totara Community to share ideas and next steps that they learned from the User Conference for further discussions. We’re also excited to have DeakinCo’s senior learning and performance consultant, Arun Pradhan, leading the keynote on Day 1, on ‘Learning in the future of work’, which will focus on the accelerated pace of change in L&D, along with strategies for dealing with this. Arun is highly recognised for his experience in the industry, winning the coveted Australian Institute of Training And Development’s 2017 L&D Professional of the Year Award, and is a top thought leader in the industry. Be sure to have a chat with everyone during the event.
Improve your skill set with optional Day 2 Totara workshops
Our Day 2 of the user conference has optional workshops for those who want hands-on experience with various elements within the Totara ecosystem. These workshops are run by our partners and give delegates the opportunity to see how features can be utilised within the platform.
Some of the workshops include:
- Implementing the new Totara mLearn App
- How to create and manage recurring courses
- How to enhance online engagement
- Curating content for improved training
- Enabling the 70:20:10 model with Totara Learn and Totara Social

Get the inside scoop at what’s coming to Totara
Not only do you get to meet some key members of the Totara team, you’ll get an inside look at what’s coming up for Totara. We’ll be sharing the latest news from the Totara teams, including our recent release of Totara Learn 11 and more. Being part of the Totara community means our team listens closely to the users – our community and our user conferences allow us to hear what our subscribers need, what questions they have, what successes they’ve achieved and ways to update our systems to cater for the community at large. Your attendance is highly valued as a subscriber and we look forward to hearing your input on the future of Totara solutions.
